Marketing debate:

Ethical Reflection of The ethics of ageism - it affects more than older age groups

Based on my view, ageism is basically about the discrimination of age in certain situation. In ethical reflection, i was asked to place myself in the position of product manager for a range of impulse iced confectioneries. Particularly, the company wanted to make young girls appeals in the commercial advertisement. Our group were assigned as the agreed side which mean we were not agreed to let young girls appear in the commercial advertisement. From what i think in this case, the company was aiming those young ages groups of teenagers or children and i dont think its advisable for them to do so.

Young girls are just too young and they do not have any experience. They are still in their maturity which mean they cant determine what are they doing instead, they just follow what had issued to them. Teenage girl are supposed to attend school; and not being hired to work as an advertiser. they are too emotionally underdeveloped to handle pressures of the adult world.  I wont be allow my children to have her appearance in the telvesion or other social meida in her young ages as this will affect her teenage growth.

I tried my best to defend my stand but it seem like opponents have the same power in defending their own point and both of the team end up weirdly.

Anyway, through the debates in the class, i have learnt on how to voice out my opinions and i successfully get along with everybody who i have not met them outside the class, around the campus. I have the experience on how to do research and analysis.

Sincerely,
Doreen
